Trees in Parks

Issue:
Many of our public green spaces are under pressure from urbanisation, compacted soils, and climate stress. Some lack canopy cover entirely, making them less welcoming in summer heat and less able to soak up rainwater during storms. At the same time, the UK’s urban tree cover is declining, just when we need it most.
Solution:
By planting specimen trees in key locations throughout parks and green spaces, this project will create living infrastructure that cools the environment, provides habitat for pollinators, and absorbs surface water. Carefully selected for their beauty, biodiversity value, and climate resilience, the trees will form natural ‘avenue’ walkways and provide long-lasting benefits for local communities.
Benefits:
Trees in Parks will enrich public spaces for generations to come. These trees will help absorb rainwater, cool urban areas, and attract bees, butterflies, and birds, creating vibrant, biodiverse corridors through the towns and villages in Wootton Brook and Harpers Brook.
Supporting this initiative is a visible and lasting way to invest in healthier, greener, more climate-ready communities. 🌟 Star Fact: Urban trees can reduce surface water runoff by up to 80% compared to hard surfaces, helping prevent flash flooding and improving local water quality.
