Report A Flood

If you recently experienced flooding in your home following storm Bert, this is your friendly reminder to report the flooding to your local council.

One of the main reasons you should report a flood is so that the risk management authority can be aware of where there are flooding issues.

West Northants Council: https://www.westnorthants.gov.uk/its-emergency/report-flood

North Northants Council: https://www.northnorthants.gov.uk/flooding

Flooding information really helps to keep each Council informed of areas and individual properties that have been impacted by flood water, and your insights can be used to:

  • Identify remedial actions such as unblocking gullies and raising riparian responsibilities with the responsible owner
  • Identify responsible organisations
  • Influence maintenance schedules
  • Validate predictive flood modelling
  • Support bids for funding project work which can help reduce flood risk
  • Help capture the true economic cost of a flood
  • Facilitate partnership project work.

Finally, if you are in the Harpers Brook or Wootton Brook catchments and have recently been flooded inside your property but you are not yet part of the RAIN Project’s Property Flood Resilience (PFR) programme or you haven’t reported the flooding, do please get in touch as soon as possible by emailing RAIN@westnorthants.gov.uk and we will contact you about our programme.
