Revealing Rush Meadow Ponds!

At the end of last year, we asked the community in the Harpers Brook catchment to help us name the new wetland that’s created in Brigstock and, wow, what a response we received!

From social media suggestions to conversations in person and fantastic ideas from local school children, there were so many brilliant entries.

After sharing all the ideas with farmer and landowner Hugh Shrive a final decision has been made…

✨ The new name is Rush Meadow Ponds ✨

The name reflects the area’s historic identity while acknowledging the new ponds now capturing and slowing excess water during wet weather.

Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas. It really is great to see community ownership shaping local natural flood management projects that we’re working on.
